Executive Leadership

Ralph Calabrese

President

Ralph Calabrese is the President of the Board. He has been a Member of the Board since 2014 and a PAL Coach since 2012. He played PAL Travel Basketball as a kid from 1985-1989 and traveled to Washington, DC and Niagara Falls for National PAL Tournaments. He is one of the Co-Founders of Alaris Technology and currently holds the position of Managing Partner. He
currently lives in Torrington with his wife and two children, both of whom are active participants in various PAL Activities.

Lieutenant Brett Johnson

Vice President

Lieutenant Brett Johnson is the Vice President of the PAL Board; he has been involved with PAL in varying capacities for 12 years. He finds the connection between PAL officers and the local children and their families to be very important, believing that the relationships and interactions between the officers and children involved in PAL transcend the typical interaction, between police and society. He also believes that the relationships that are created in PAL make officers better at communicating with today’s youth.He has been a member of the Torrington Police Department for 12 years, currently serving as a Lieutenant. He is currently the commanding officer of the Detective Division. He lives in Torrington with his wife, Kayla, and Chocolate Lab Koco.

Christopher Smedick

Executive Director

Christopher Smedick is the Executive Director for the Board. He has been on the PAL Board for 30 years. As a police officer he was one of the charter members of PAL in the early 80’s, and has served as President, Board Member, and Coach. Chris is married to his wife Eileen of 34 years and has 2 adult children. He was a member of the Torrington Police Department for 36 years, retiring in 2018 at the rank of Deputy Police Chief.

Robin Ledversis

Secretary

Robin Ledversis became a Member of the board in 2018, but has served as a volunteer coach for PAL for 20 years. She believes it is so important to get kids involved in extra-curricular activities and to get them connected in the community. Robin is married to Kevin Ledversis and has two children, Sue and Sam, who participated in PAL activities throughout their childhood. She is currently the Assistant Principal at Torrington High School.

Nicholas Calabrese

Treasurer

Nicholas Calabrese has been a Member of the Board since 2018. He benefited from playing basketball in the Torrington PAL and Varsity Alumni leagues as a teenager, over 25 years ago.

Raymond R. Oneglia

BOD Member

Raymond R. Oneglia has been a Member of the Board for 20 years. He is a lifelong member of the community; he has watched the area change. PAL has integrated itself into the community by reaching out to the youth population in many ways from sports to academics and has added great value to the Torrington area. He is active as the Vice Chairman of O&G Industries, a construction company founded by his immigrant grandfather in 1923. He is married and has 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

Allan Borghesi

BOD Member

Allan Borghesi has been Member of the Board for 5 years. He is an engineer and gives general decision and construction advice. He is an involved citizen and the chairman of Borghesi Building.

Stephen Krzanowski

BOD Member

Currently resides in Canton with his wife and 11 year-old daughter. Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Central Connecticut State University. Employed by the Torrington Police Department since 2008. Worked in Patrol for 5 years – member of Accident Investigation Team and Tactical Narcotics Team. Promoted to Detective in 2012. Promoted to Lieutenant in November 2019. He is currently assigned to the patrol division and is the commanding officer of the midnight shift. Current Underage Drinking Task-force Supervisor. Volunteer for PAL events, Special Olympics events, Explorer Toy Drive, PAL Toy Drive and Union Food Drive.

William A. Conti, Esq.

BOD Member

William A. Conti, Esq. serves as the Attorney for the PAL Board, he has held this position for the last 3 years. As an attorney who does criminal defense he realizes the importance of community policing and thinks PAL does an excellent job with the community. He is a graduate of Boston College and Boston College Law School, is married to Linda Conti, and has 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
